Open Board Positions

President- this position is filled for 2025

The WES president facilitates board meetings, leads goals and objectives for the group, and generally keeps the organization moving forward.

Vice President

The WES VP leads alongside the WES president and will step in to lead the board when the president is not able to.

Treasurer

The WES treasurer oversees the organization’s finances. They are responsible for tracking dues from members, making payments to vendors, and making sure the organization is always in good financial standing.

Secretary - this position is filled for 2025

The WES secretary will be responsible for taking notes at board meetings, as well as sending out those notes to board members after meetings.

Admin

The WES Admin will be responsible for assisting all board members with tasks relating to the backend of running the organization. Tasks include answering emails, adding information about upcoming events to the website, assisting members with setting up their member directory profiles, etc.

Membership Chair - this position is filled for 2025

The WES membership chair will oversee WES membership. They will be in charge of recruiting, getting members signed up, and being the point of contact for any concerns members have with their membership.

Graphic Designer and Social Media

The WES graphic designer and social media board member will be responsible for making graphics for WES events such as socials, educational events, and markets. They will also be responsible for capturing images and video of events, and posting them to the WES social pages.

ALL Board Members should expect to: 

  • Attend one board meeting (either virtually or in person) per month

  • Attend at least 75% of WES events

  • Plan, or co-plan, a WES social or education event, as well a smaller scale coffee or lunch meeting

  • Assist with planning large WES events such as markets and conferences 

  • Engage with WES members on socials and in the WES member group

  • Be a good WES ambassador to the public which includes recruiting new members, and educating the public on the WES mission whenever possible

Founder

Nikki Riojas, owner of Made in Corpus Christi, is no stranger to the world of small business. She and her husband Andrew own Milestones, a custom awards and recognition company, and they launched Made in Texas Co. in 2021. Nikki is the Founder of the Women's Entrepreneur Society of Corpus Christi; a marketing consultant for the Small Business Development Center at Del Mar College and Texas State University; and is a member of the Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce. She also serves on the American Advertising Federation–Corpus Christi board of directors. A mom, wife, and big thinker, she knows the value of work-life balance even if she rarely gets it.
